Just launched in Russia is the Onyx Boox i63ml Newton. Running Android version 2.3, users will be able to use Google Play to download any reading or comic book apps they want.
As is becoming popular this year, eReaders are starting to use an open system of Android as their operating system. This allows eReaders such as the Boox to have the ability to load in your own apps.
The Onyx Boox features a six inch display screen with a 1024 by 758 resolution. It is also one of the few eReaders currently available that use Ink Carta technology. The Kindle Paperwhite 2 and Tolino Vision are the only others on the market that currently have using it. The advantage of Carta is faster page turns and the elimination of full page refreshing whenever a page is turned.
The Newton is powered by a single core 1GHZ processor, 512 MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This should store over 10,000 books, or a ton of apps, but if this isn’t enough you can increase the memory by way of an SD Card.
The Newton allows also features a front-lit light that they call “Moonlight”
This eReader is exclusively available in Russia (and CIS countries) for 6990 RUB.
