Sony’s new ereader, the Sony Reader PRS-T2 has officially gone on sale today. The new device which is physically very similar to the PRS-T1 and is available in 3 colors: black, white and red and according to Sony has some improved performance and features along with a new button layout. The black model comes with a free voucher for “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” ebook which is redeemable from the online Pottermore shop.
It features the same e-Ink Pearl V220 screen as the previous model, but has been enhanced for long-term reading. The updated book layout promises to make it easier to find books and to organize and the improved page turns and smoother zooming have been designed to further improve the reading experience. The battery life has almost doubled from the previous 5 weeks to 2 months (with wireless off).
A new feature of the PRS-T2 is the integration of Facebook and Evernote. You can post directly into Facebook from the device and access content from Evernote’s Web Clipper feature as well as annotating passages on the PRS-T2, save it into Evernote and view it elsewhere later. Accessing Sony’s Reader Store has now been made easier as it is all done via a web-based interface rather than having to download and install software.
It comes with 2GB of internal memory (upgraded by a maximum of 32GB by way of microSD) and is Wi-Fi only.
